This series of etchings was inspired by the ruins of Pre-Hispanic temples and spiritual sites scattered throughout the Lima. In particular, I found the Huaca Pucllana, and its bookshelf method of laying adobe bricks, to combine three of my great interests: the pyramid form, books and magical energies.
These prints were created with an artist residency grant from Taller 72, one of the original printshops in Peru.

Hand lettering became a critical part of my creative practice in 2015. Each morning, for years, I sketched at the kitchen table, with coffee in hand, listening to the news, or watching birds in the backyard. Themes that emerged ranged from politics to gratitude, nature, grief, or nonsense. While these works offer a snapshot of a specific time, they still resonate.
I set simple rules for drawing: no pressure to be good; and no expectation of selling or exhibiting the work. I posted some drawings online to stay accountable for regular practice. I enjoyed the creative play of choosing words to write—specifically thinking about letter forms, color, and shape.
Sketchbook Pages with Patterns features a selection of drawings made in my sketchbooks between 2017 and 2020. I became a mother in 2021, and my creative practice slowed/shifted in response.
These Past Few Weeks was inspired by taking a calligraphy workshop with Lorrie Frear at the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum as part of the 2024 Wayzgoose. An intense day of drawing reminded me to make space for that part of my creative practice again.
All of these pieces are double-sided inkjet prints made from hand-lettered drawings and drawn patterns that are then creased, sewn, and mounted to the wall. The pieces are shown in this way, so they have a unique presence and allude to the book format.

This series of work was inspired by living and working in Lima, Peru. As I learned to embrace the chaos of Lima and navigate the city on its informal transportation, I became obsessed with its bus tickets, often planning to take certain bus routes as I became short of a particular color of bus ticket.

This series of part-plant-part-sea creature imagery was inspired by Lima: a city offering up incredible fruits of the sea, spotted with over-manicured gardens, and a desire to grow lush.

In 2006, I moved to a small village on the central coast of Chile. It was simultaneously adventurous, confusing and beautiful. While there I began speaking Spanish, and formed close relationships with some of the local residents. In homage to those friends, for their love and support, and the many cups of coffee we shared, I created a series of nine etchings.
